The History of Greendance Winery
Our story begins in 1982 when the Lynns - Rick & Susan - and the Schillings - Rob & Amy - decided to purchase and revive an abandoned farm on the edge of Mount Pleasant, PA.

Through a bit of luck and a large surprise deal, we acquired several thousand raspberry plants that grew into the small fruits business of Sand Hill Berries. The plants survived, the fields were restored with new berries and heirloom variety orchards, a bakery and small dessert cafe were added, a line of gourmet pantry items were jarred, fresh fruit even made it to the White House with gooseberries, currants, and golden raspberries for two state dinners, and yet several seasons still yielded a surplus of the highest quality small fruits - this planted the seed for a future winery. Gradually we realized that our fruits could be made into pure fruit wines, and our expertise in cultural practices would accommodate production of quality hybrid vinifera grapes to provide a full spectrum of wines. The new winery was planned for many years, but the demands of fruit growing and various regulatory issues stalled the dream. Finally in autumn of 2007, Greendance - The Winery at Sand Hill was consummated and opened in September of that year. |

They may have been green at dancing, but the atmosphere of Greendance Winery is exquisite as the taste of a fine wine such as Isabella. They make the best tasting sangria in the region. Most beautiful as the best winery in the area serving great food. The best of pies or desserts can be found here satisfying the sweet tooth in us all. My hubby and I were celebrating our Anniversay. We were looking for a winery and Greendance was recommended by the place we were staying at. Wow! We didn't expect such a cool place!! Everyone was so nice and helpful! The wine was awesome, we enjoyed listening to the band and the food was great too! It rained a little but didn't stop us from having a fun time! My husband and I happened upon their roadside store on our way to vacation one year. After that, anytime he travels anywhere near there for work he stops and gets me a bottle or three! This time we turned it into a quick overnight getaway and stopped at the actual winery. It did not disappoint! We enjoyed trying some samples of wines, grabbed a bottle to share over lunch from the new cafe! The band that was playing, The Andy Davis Band, was awesome! After lunch, we walked around the beautifully landscaped grounds. We finished our afternoon by picking up a pie, some jelly, and a case of amazing wine!
